Kristen McDermaid

Doctor of Physical Therapy

Kristen McDermaid, DPT, earned dual Bachelor of Science degrees in human biology and kinesiology from Michigan State University in 2004 and earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from Wayne State University in 2008. She spent many years training and preparing to become an elite gymnast and through her career, spent a great deal of time undergoing physical therapy for her own injuries. She believes her experiences in rehab helped to guide her career path and credits her therapists to her athletic success. She has worked with and provided care for infants and children birth to 26 years of age in school settings, hospitals, and outpatient settings. She believes her leading role is to teach parents and caregivers how to best work with their children to help them reach their maximum potential through a strong home program and functional approach. Kristen specializes in treating limitations and conditions such as:

Ericka Shuptar

Certified Speech Language Pathologist

Ericka earned her Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2004. She is enthusiastic about helping children improve their communication skills and believes that effective and efficient communication is crucial for social, emotional, and academic success.

Ericka has extensive experience working with children ages 1½ to 14 years old with a variety of speech and language needs. She has experience in both clinical and school based settings. She works on speech and language skills through play scripts, social scripts, and visuals. Ericka has experience with applied verbal behavior (AVB)/ verbal analysis (ABA), the Kaufman Speech to Language Protocol, the Sign to Talk Treatment Method, and social skills training. Ericka specializes in:

  • Working with children that are not (yet) verbal
  • Children with auditory-linguistic processing challenges
  • Autism
  • Apraxia of speech
